Award-winning journalist, Leslie Rangel is the evening co-anchor and reporter at FOX44.  Leslie is proud to be a part of the KWKT station re-launched and re-branded.

Before landing in Waco, she was the crime reporter in Austin at KXAN News.  Leslie is a Texas native and so happy to be in Central Texas. She’s been in the news business for half a decade. She’s had stops in Oklahoma City at KFOR and Beaumont, TX at KFDM News.

While in Austin, Leslie’s work was recognized by the Texas Associated Press of Broadcasters. She was awarded best reporter for 2017. She covered the Austin Police Department and Travis County Sheriff’s Office, holding them accountable for various officer involved shootings and controversial arrests. In Oklahoma City she broke stories about citizens taking legal actions against major oil companies relating to earthquake damages. Leslie has a passion for uncovering corruption and stories that need to be told and cares deeply for the people of Texas and the Central Texas community.

Leslie graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Broadcast Journalism and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts, with an emphasis in Spanish Language teaching. She is a proud Longhorn and a first generation Mexican-American (her heritage has roots in Mexico and Guatemala).

Leslie lives in Waco with her fiance and two rescue pugs, Harlow and Hiro. She is also a 500 hour yoga teacher. She is fluent in Spanish and loves salsa dancing. Leslie is thrilled to be so close to home sharing Central Texan’s stories.
