MG Montemayor joined the FOX 44 news team in October 2021.
Aloha! MG comes to Waco by way of Honolulu, HI where she was the Weekend Sports Anchor/Reporter for the ABC affiliate, KITV. She got the opportunity to cover some of Oahu’s biggest sporting events, including the World Surf League Championship Tour’s Billabong Pipe Masters at Banzai Pipeline, the LPGA LOTTE Championship at Ko Olina Golf Club, the L.A. Clippers Hawaii Classic, the Polynesian Bowl at Aloha Stadium, along with numerous University of Hawaii Rainbow Warrior football, volleyball, and basketball games. She has also covered stories on Hawaii’s biggest stars — 5-time LPGA Tour winner Michelle Wie, Texas Rangers’ Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagavailoa, and MMA’s Max Holloway.
Her first stop was the West Coast flagship ABC-owned-and-operated KABC-TV in Los Angeles, where she learned the ropes of the business as a news assistant and sports reporting intern covering the Lakers, Dodgers, Clippers, Kings, and Rams.
Raised in Houston, she earned her Bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at Austin, double-majoring in Radio-TV-Film and Corporate Communication.
Following undergrad, she had a brief stint in the entertainment industry in L.A. She then went on to receive her Master’s degree from the University of Southern California’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, where it was easy to access industry veterans such as broadcast icon Diane Sawyer, ESPN’s Hannah Storm, and The Walt Disney Company’s Bob Iger. While at USC, she worked as a multimedia journalist and sports reporter for Annenberg TV News. She also co-created a sports talk radio podcast, Outside the Pocket, for the Annenberg Media Center where she served as producer and host. Additionally, she contributed to the digital news publication, Neon Tommy, as a sports writer covering USC Trojan football.
She is a Peleton cycling junkie, has a daily yoga practice, and is passionate about filling up her passport with stamps. She has traveled to 33 countries including a visit to the pyramids in Egypt, the Serengeti in Tanzania, scuba-diving the Great Barrier Reef, and paragliding over the Swiss Alps.
Her guilty pleasure is any true-crime documentary.
She and her rescue dog, Blossom, are excited to call Waco home — and she is on a mission to find all her new favorite restaurants in town!
MG is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association.
