Waco police report one person is dead and one other wounded in two Sunday night shootings that officers say are related.

Officers were first called about 9:40 p.m.on report of shots being fired in the area of the 2300 block of Park Avenue.

“A car just came out of nowhere and just started bustin like just like the shells started flyin, and I ran inside and thats when my boyfriend said ‘come on we got to go, we got to go, my cousin got shot’ and thats when we just took off and we rushed him to the hospital,” said a witness.

When they got there, officers found blood and shell casings indicating there had been a shooting.

While there, officers learned that at least one person was hit and taken to a hospital.

While officers were processing that scene, they got a report of multiple gunshots heard coming from the area of 26th and Dutton.

Doyle Stuart has been living in the area for about 20 years, he was in his home enjoying the World Series game when he heard the gunshots.

“It’s awful, its very awful. Young people you know, getting killed at an early age like that, absolutely awful and you think about how their parents feel losing their child at an early age,” said Stuart.

Officers going there found more shell casings, confirming that some kind of shooting had occurred there.

As the on-site investigations continued, police were notified that a gunshot victim had been taken to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital and later died.

A second victim, also thought be be involved, also arrived at the hospital and was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were continuing to gather information  Monday morning.
