Four people are hospitalized after a multi-vehicle accident in College Station.
College Station Police Department officers were dispatched to the 2500 Block of State Highway 6 on Wednesday morning for a reported major accident.
When officers arrived, they found an 18-wheeler struck three vehicles traveling northbound on the highway.
While investigating the accident, officers discovered as traffic was proceeding northbound on Highway 6, just south of the Southwest Parkway overpass, the vehicles on the highway began to slow down for traffic congestion due to an unrelated crash.
When the vehicles slowed, an 18-wheeler also traveling northbound was unable to slow down and struck three vehicles on the highway.
As a result of the accident, four people were transported to local hospitals. One of the people was transported for incapacitating injuries, while the others were transported for non-incapacitating injuries.
In addition, oil spilled onto the highway as a result of the accident. Because of the oil spill, Highway 6 northbound between Emerald Parkway and Harvey Road was shut down for a few hours.
