Three Dallas area men are being held after a car chase and crash following an attempted burglary at a TSTC  campus apartment.

A TSTC spokesman says it started about 4:30 p.m. Friday with a break in at an apartment on Village Oaks property on the campus.

Apparently unknown to the burglars, there was a man asleep in the apartment who woke up and spotted the burglars who then fled.

The resident called campus police with a description, with officers then spotting the suspect vehicle.

There was a short pursuit with the vehicle going out of control, through a fence and into a fields off campus on Mazanec Road.

After the wreck, three suspects fled on foot, but with the help of officers from the Lacy Lakeview Police Department and the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, two of the suspects were apprehended soon after the wreck and a third was arrested later that night.

Still in the McLennan County Jail Monday morning were 20-year-old Keivon Rashod Bates held on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity and evading arrest,  and 19-year-old Brandon Lamar Donato held on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity, evading arrest with a vehicle and possession of marijuana.

The identity of the third person was not available Monday morning.

A TSTC spokesman said all are from the Dallas area and were not TSTC students or residents on the TSTC campus.
