The Baylor Men’s basketball team is preparing for their NCAA second-round game against top-seeded Gonzaga.
The Bears enter this game as a decided underdog, a role they are embracing as they prepare to see the Bulldogs tomorrow night.
“I mean they’re a great team but I think it just comes down to having that you know, the underdog mentality,” Junior Freddie Gillespie said. “You know it’s called March Madness for a reason so I think just believe in ourselves that we’re good enough to be here.”
Gonzaga is the number-one seed in the West region for a reason, and senior King McClure knows that, but he feels like his team is ready.
“They’re really talented,” he said. “They’ve got a lot of guys who can make plays and score. They play really fast. They like to speed up the pace but at the end of the day it’s going to be a great battle for us, great test for us but I think we’re ready.”
The Bears and Bulldogs tip off at 6:10pm on Saturday in Salt Lake city, Utah.
