A Copperas Cove couple has been arrested on charges of abandoning or endangering a child after a four-year-old girl was found walking down the street alone early Monday morning.

:Police were called about 6:30 Monday morning by a couple who reported they had been driving in the 1800 block of Martin Luther King, Jr Drive when they saw the little girl walking down the sidewalk wearing only a t-shirt and underwear and without shoes.

They stopped and picked up the child, put her in a sweat shirt and kept her in the car while they called police.

Officers said in court papers filed in the case that the temperature was about 45 degrees at the time.

Officers said they were able to figure out where the child’s home was,  but that no one was there.

While they were in the house, Truc Phuong Truong arrived and said that she had just taken her husband, Christopher David Barecky, to work at Fort Hood and that the little girl had been sleeping when they left.

They did not think she would wake up while they were gone.
