Child hit by pickup in Temple

A 6-year-old girl was listed in stable condition Friday afternoon after being hit by a pickup in Temple.

Police spokesperson Shawana Neely says it happened at 1:13 p.m. as several adults and children were crossing  South 31st at Canyon Creek Drive coming from Canyon Creek Townhomes when a child ran ahead of the adults.

Two cars were going south on 31st, with the driver in the inside lane spotting the child and was able to stop.

The driver of a Ford pickup traveling in the outside lane could not see the child coming and could not stop.

The Temple Police Accident Reconstruction Unit was called to investigate.
