Celebrity actor Chuck Norris was in town today.

The celebrity best known for his lead role in Walker, Texas Ranger, Chuck Norris visited the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor to deliver the 2014 McLane Lecture.

The lecture is geared towards bringing internationally recognized speakers to campus in order to discuss leadership, government, and business.

“Hearing about it now, he went through a lot of hardships, makes it super encouraging for a college student especially if we’re graduating,” said Andy Ramirez, intern and senior student at UMHB.

Norris the founder of Kickstart Kids, a martial arts program for at risk middle and high school students.

He has also worked as a columnist for WorldNetDaily and Creators Syndicate.

Norris touched base on starting his foundation out of Houston schools, his military career, his movies, and even how easy it is to become wrapped up in fame and lose touch with what’s important.

“because right now I’m about to graduate in December and don’t really know where I’m headed so to hear him say that it’s okay and that you have the Lord and don’t lost that foundation, it was really encouraging to hear,” said Ramirez.

Hundreds of people waiting in line outside of Sue and Frank Mayborn Campus Center since 8 am.

The event was free to the public.
