The pastor of the Willow Grove Baptist Church in Moody reports his church has been seriously vandalized.
Steve Desjardins posted on Facebook that he is asking for prayers and support following the incident that involved damage to the sanctuary, offices, hallways and classrooms.
He described his congregation as a small close-knit family and asked not only for prayers for their church family but also for those who ” chose to bring such destruction upon out local church home.”
The church is located at 13490 Willow Grove Road in Moody.
“It’s hard to see this place and see it disrespected in such a way,” said Desjardins.
Neighbors alerted police last night after seeing something suspicious happening at the church.
Desjardins says two teen girls threw ink, paint, and food they found in the kitchen all over the church.
Police did bring the two girls to face Desjardins.
“First and foremost I wanted to let them know that I forgive them though there are consequences and we do need to be held accountable for our choices,” he said.
Right now no charges have been filed, but the pastor says there is another way for them to answer for their actions.
“Come and apologize to this local congregation and take the steps necessary to make this right,” he said.
People gathered outside the church today wanting to help. Desjardins says they will recover and move forward.
“We want to make a difference in this community and we want to make a difference in the lives of people who are making bad choices. We want their lives to change and we want them to reach their god given potentials.” he said.
