City of Waco reports wastewater spill

Following the heavy rains over the weekend, the City of Waco is reporting an estimated 84,000 gallons of wastewater spilled when a manhole overflowed near the Regional Airport.

The overflow was believed to have occurred late Sunday night near the 7900 block of Skeet Eason Drive.

The city reports all the discharges have stopped and cleanup actities to disinfect the area were underway Monday morning.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality was notified.

The city’s drinking water supply was not affected.

However, persons using private drinking water wells located within a half mile of the spill site should use only water that has been distilled or boiled before it is used for drinking, cooking, bathing or tooth brushing

Individuals with private water wells should have their well water tested and disinfected if necessary  before discontinuing the boiling.
