Woodway police report arresting a local doctor on a warrant charging aggravated assault family violence, listed as a second degree felony.

The arrest of 47-year-old Dr. Daniel Augustus Smith III was made Thursday morning, Valentine’s Day, following an investigation into a complaint filed by a female acquaintance. 

The victim alleged to  Woodway Public Safety personnel that Smith was intoxicated and assaulted her at her residence February 5, saying she was kicked in the face, breaking one tooth and chipping another.

Woodway officers said she told then she was repeatedly kicked in the chest and stomach area causing “significant bruising and pain” throughout those areas.

Woodway detectives reported obtaining an arrest warrant for Dr Smith who was arrested without incident and taken to the McLennan County Jail.

A statement released by Woodway Public Safety noted that the Texas Medical Board website indicated Dr Smith is a fully licensed physician specializing in pathology and cytopathology.
