McGregor police have arrested a 37 year old man for what is termed ” doctor shopping” to obtain large quantities of hydrocodone.
Jay Aaron Lewis has been charged with multiple counts of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud following an investigation into activities that began last year.
Lewis is accused of going to different doctors on different days with complaints about various sources of pain.
McGregor investigators accuse him of then obtaining prescriptions for hydrocodone from each doctor at a different pharmacy in order to obtain larger amounts of the drug than is allowed by law.
Investigators say that between October of last year and January of this year he obtained at least 300 pills.
What was done with them has not been determined.
Police say discovery of the multiple purchases of the drug at different pharmacies was discovered in the course of an unrelated investigation.
