Driver indicted in motorcyclist death

A Bell County grand jury has returned an indictment charging intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle with a deadly weapon finding in connection with a crash that left one motorcyclist dead and another seriously injured.

Fifty-six-year-old Ian James Ruston  of Denton was arrested shortly after the crash on suspicion of driving while intoxicated  and with possession of marijuana.

The Department of Public Safety reported at the time of the crash in October that it happened on State Highway 317 near Temple when  Ruston, who   was driving a pickup that was southbound, made a U-turn in front of  a motorcycle operated by 55-year-old Michael Abel of China Spring who was going north.

Abel was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident also involved a second  motorcycle operated by 54-year-old Vicente Navejas of Waco who was injured.
