Waco ISD officials say their enrollment has increased by 182 students this school year thanks to many positive changes.
They say the increase is mostly evident in high schools because of dual credit courses.
Other changes include creating smaller classrooms and addressing behavior problems.
Many of these changes were implemented from parents’ suggestions.
The officials say all of these positive changes have helped change the overall image.
Bruce Gietzen, the spokesperson for Waco ISD said many of these improvements were possible thanks to a great faculty and staff working hard.
The enrollment increase also helps their budget since the funding increases as well. Per each student, the district receives about $4,000 to $5,000.
Enrollment as of 9/13/16 is more than 15,000 students.
Waco ISD is the only school district in the country that qualified for students for the National History Day Finals.
