Grieving children and teenagers can get support via a 6 week long, free program offered at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center.
The program lasts from October 11 till November 15 and groups meet at McClinton Cancer Center.
Michelle King, the program’s director says children process grief on a different level than adults and therefore this group will not include joint counseling with their parents.
There is a separate grief counseling group taking place for parents at the same time.
The program is called Jamie’s place, in memory of Jamie, a teenage boy, who died from a brain tumor.
The support program has been helping children for more than 20 years.
The group meets every Tuesday evening.
