Killeen police and the Bell County Sheriff’s Office confirm that a 16-year-old detainee being held at the Bell County Juvenile Detention Center, 4800 East Rancier, is believed to have escaped.

The detainee, whose name has not been released, was noticed missing from an area where he was supposed to be working shortly before 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Killeen police spokesman Carroll Smith and Bell County Sheriff’s Office Spokesman T-J Cruz say the missing detainee is a 16-year-old black male, six feet, two inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds.

He was last seen wearing an orange shirt and orange pants.

He was being detained on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Tracking dogs and a helicopter were used to look for him.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact any area law enforcement agency.
