Killeen police have identified the man shot on Buckley Drive Sunday night as  20-year-old Troy Anthony Afano, Jr of Killeen.

While one person has been held in the case, his identity is being withheld until formal charges are brought forward by the Bell County District Attorney’s Office.

Officers were called to the 1500 block of Buckley Drive at 11:15 p.m. Sunday after getting a 9-1-1 call about shots being fired.

Upon arrival, they found a man since identified as Afano lying in the street with a gunshot wound.

He was first taken to Darnall Army Medical Center, then airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple where he was pronounced dead at 2:43 a.m. Monday.

Police say so far they have learned that there was some kind of disturbance or fight in the area of Clarawood Drive and Buckley Drive and at some point a gun was produced and the victim was shot.

A short time later police located a man they say was in some way involved in the shooting incident and detained him.

He has been held in the Killeen City Jail
