Lady Bears Representing Baylor with Pride

The Baylor Lady Bears are in Tampa resting up for their Final Four game against the Oregon Ducks on Friday!

The ladies got their first opportunity to get on the floor on Thursday afternoon.

The team is playing for more than just themselves – this is about pride for their city and their university. The team has been through a lot themselves, and so has the university as a whole. They are still trying to rebuild their image from the sexual assualt scandal that rocked the campus just a few years ago.

Over the last several years, Baylor has been getting attention for all the wrong reasons. However, the story of this team and the possibility of them bringing a national championship back to Waco could be the thing that brings Baylor to the forefront in a positive light.

“It’s a rally point for everybody coming together and reuniting. We’ve talked about the hardships, two to three years, and against something like this brings the entire community together. Helps all of us. That we’re brothers and sisters and on the same team. And we’re here for one great cause,” says Mack Rhoades, Baylor Athletics Director.

Be sure to tune in tonight at 9:30 for our 30-minute “Chasing a Championship” special! You can also catch it on our livestream here.

If you’re wondering where you can catch the game in Waco, FOX44 is teaming up with the Dancing Bear Pub to hold a watch party on Friday. The doors will open at 2:00 p.m. at 1117 Speight Avenue, and they are expanding their happy hour specials during the game.
