Lady Bears: Two Wins from a National Title

The Baylor Lady Bears are going against the Oregon Ducks in the national semi-final on Friday night, with the winner being the first to clinch their spot in the national championship game!

The Lady Bears have worked hard to get here, but now it’s about staying there. The motto this year has been “Together to Tampa.” They want to make this trip count, and as they get deeper into this tournament the margin for error gets much smaller.

This is not news to this team. We have seen them play their best this year when the stakes are at the highest. Head Coach Kim Mulkey likes to talk about why these kids came to Baylor was to play in big-time games like these. Now that they are so close, they are not about to let this opportunity slide.

“Well, that’s how you like it. Two more. Literally two more. And then on Friday, it’s one more. What you’ve been working for this entire season. So I just think keeping that in the back of our minds, like, why lose now? You don’t wanna lose now. We’re here now. This is where we want to be. Where we dreamed to be and where we are,” says Sophomore Guard Moon Ursin.

“Again, it’s something you kind of plan for. It’s like, I can’t wait to get to college so I can make it to the Final Four. So to finally be here, it’s just a lot. It’s really exciting,” says Sophomore Guard Didi Richards.

If you’re wondering where you can catch the game in Waco, FOX44 is teaming up with the Dancing Bear Pub to hold a watch party on Friday. They are located at 1117 Speight Avenue, and they are expanding their happy hour specials during the game.
