BELTON, Texas (FOX 44) – UPDATE: Belton Police officers are investigating a woman’s death as a homicide after finding her body during a welfare check Thursday.
After notifying the family about her death, 47-year-old Jennifer James body was found on her property in the 100 block of W. 13th Avenue on Thursday, Dec. 1.
The woman’s 20-year-old son, Jasper L. James, is charged with murder.
The body of Ms. James showed signs of trauma, including stab wounds.
At about 1 p.m. on Thursday, police made a welfare check at the home after receiving a phone call from the employer of Ms. James concerned that she did not show up for work. Jasper James was at the home when police arrived. Officers discovered her body as they searched the property.
According to the department, the woman’s employer called police because she had not shown up for work. When officers got to her home in the 100 block of W. 13th Avenue, they found the 47-year-old dead.
Officers says a person of interest was in the home and is being interviewed.
The woman’s name is not being released at this time because family members have not been informed of her death.
Police say this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
