TEMPLE, Texas (FOX 44) – A live grenade was found in Temple early Wednesday afternoon, according to the Temple Police Department.

The department responded to the 800 block of South 5^th Street around 12:57 p.m. for reports of a grenade on site. Officers found the device and confirmed it was a secure live grenade.

Police say Fort Cavazos Explosive Ordinance Disposal personnel have been notified, and are on their way to remove the grenade. There is no current threat to the public.
