Bell County (FOX 44) — Bartlett ISD announced Thursday that classes are canceled Friday because of non-COVID related illnesses.

The school district announced on Facebook that there are a large number of staff members and students who are sick.

Staff are deep cleaning the school Friday so classes can resume on Monday, Oct. 24th.

Bartlett Superintendent Teddy Clevenger told FOX 44 News the closure is due to people coming down with the flu or strep throat mostly.

Clevenger says there were more than 70 out of 475 students were sick on Thursday.

Despite the illnesses, all scheduled extracurricular activities will still take place.
