COLLEGE STATION, Texas (FOX 44) – College Station Police have assisted in apprehending a wanted murder suspect after a multiple-county pursuit.
The College Station Police Department said Wednesday afternoon that the suspect is from Bastrop County. The pursuit started in Bryan and ended in Grimes County.
The Bryan Police Department also assisted in the vehicle pursuit. Bryan PD says the pursuit started near North Earl Rudder Freeway and Harvey Mitchell Parkway. Other agencies involved in the pursuit included the Texas Department of Public Safety and Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.
The pursuit continued southbound on Earl Rudder Freeway until the suspect vehicle crashed near the intersection on State Highway 6 and Robert Road in Navasota. When attempting to contact the suspect at the crash scene, it was discovered that they shot themselves. The suspect was provided medical treatment on scene and was taken to the hospital by helicopter.
During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle struck a Chevrolet SUV driving on Earl Rudder Freeway. The person inside of the SUV was not injured.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating this collision, while the Navasota Police Department is investigating the crash involving the suspect vehicle.
