McLENNAN / HILL COUNTY, Texas (FOX 44) – UPDATE: A pursuit starts in McLennan County and ends near Abbott in Hill County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety tells FOX 44 News that the pursuit started around 4:15 p.m. Monday. A Trooper on routine patrol attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a black 2014 Dodge Challenger for a traffic violation. The vehicle failed to stop and started to evade law enforcement on Interstate 35 northbound at Mile Marker #350, south of West.

The vehicle continued north, and the driver started throwing items out of the vehicle. The vehicle continued northbound and exited at Mile Marker #358, near the Abbott area. The vehicle left the roadway and got stuck on an embankment. The driver exited the vehicle and went north, where he was seen running into a shed.

DPS Troopers, the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office, the Hill County Sheriff’s Office, and Hill County Constables started to set up a perimeter. The driver was apprehended inside of a wooden shed in the 700 block of Pine Street.

The driver has been identified as Ruben Anthonic Williams, Jr., of Waco. Williams was subsequently arrested without incident. The items thrown from the vehicle were later recovered by law enforcement and sent to the lab for analysis.

Williams was transported to the McLennan County Jail, and is charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Substance in Penalty Group 2 Less than One Gram, Evading Arrest and Tampering with Evidence. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
