The Department of Public Safety reports northbound traffic on I-35 near Salado was slowed as the inside lane remained closed Friday morning following a fatal traffic accident.
The accident occurred about 3:20 a.m. about three miles south of Salado and involved two 18-wheelers, one of which was stopped.
DPS spokesman Dave Roberts says one of the trucks was parked on the east shoulder of the highway.
The driver had gotten out of the cab and was standing near the truck.
The second 18-wheeler was traveling north, drifted onto the east shoulder and struck the back of the first truck and its driver.
The driver that was standing outside his truck was killed.
He was identified as 52-year-old Fuad Sawalha of Arlington and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other driver was unhurt.
The accident remains under investigation.
