A 29 year old man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after entering a plea to charges he was drunk when he was involved in a fatal traffic crash.
Francisco Gonzalez, Jr. had been arrested on intoxication assault charges following the July 27, 2016 crash near 19th Street and Marshall Avenue in Waco.
Police say Gonzalez was driving his pickup north on 19th Street and crossed the center line striking a southbound car.
Waco fire personnel had to work to extricate 74-year-old Charlotte Dyer-Cross from her car.
She died about a month and a half later.
Gonzalez left the scene of the crash but was picked up later in the day.
It was determined that he had been intoxicated.
He had also been driving without a valid license.
He had entered pleas to intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid.
