The McLennan County Sheriff’s office report a woman has been arrested and 14.8 pounds of marijuana seized after the pot was found in the trunk of a car stopped for having a headlight out.

The arrest affidavit for Abigail Padilla says she was the driver of a black Toyota stopped near the 323 mile marker Wednesday evening.

As the deputy talked with her, he learned she was on probation for possession of drug paraphernalia and asked if there was anything illegal in the car, to which she responded ” no”

He asked to search the car including a backpack where he found a bottle with an Adderall pill in it and one suspected marijuana cigarette.

She was placed in handcuffs as the deputy prepared to search the rest of the car.

The affidavit says she told the deputy at that point that there was more marijuana in the trunk.

The affidavit states that the deputy located a black duffle bag in the trunk that contained several plastic bags containing” a green leafy substance.”

After taking Padilla to the jail,  the deputy weighed the suspected marijuana and it totalled 14.8 pounds.

Padilla was booked into the jail on charges of possession of marijuana over five pounds but under fifty pounds and possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2 ( the Adderall).

She posted a total of $15,000 bond on the two charges and was released during the noon hour Thursday.
