A Madisonville police officer escaped serious injury when his patrol unit was hit by an 18-wheeler early Tuesday morning.
Madisonville police report it happened at the intersection of Highway 21 and Highway 75.
The Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident with spokesman Jimmy Morgan saying it happened at 1:50 a.m.
He reported that the 18 wheeler was in the inside lane if Highway 75, and in preparation to making a left turn onto Highway 21 and 190 swung over to the right, striking the patrol unit that was in the outside lane, pushing sideways toward a pole.
The officer was transported to the St Joseph Hospital Emergency Room.
She was released Tuesday morning and is at home recovering from non-life threatening injuries.
The collision remains under investigation.
