1st Air Cavalry Brigade gets warm welcome home

Local

Fort Hood welcomed home over 100 soldiers deployed to Iraq.

Families gathered at Cooper Field to greet their loved ones in Company F 1st Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment.

Those soldiers were a part of a nine-month deployment in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

They performed a variety of jobs including attack preparation, security and target acquisition missions – all while flying nearly 14,000 combat flight hours to support coalition forces.

“I’m glad he’s [son] back on U.S. soil. He’s safe back in the United States. He loves what he does, and once he goes on leave he’ll come to North Carolina and get to visit us,” says mother Flora Zurcher.
