A man charged with killing a woman with his vehicle in a Lacy Lakeview bar parking lot has been sentenced to twenty years in prison after entering a plea to a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
Scottie Wayne Spencer had been indicted on a murder charge as well as the intoxication manslaughter charge, but the murder charge was dropped.
Lacy Lakeview Police Chief John Truehitt said the investigation indicated he did not intend to injure or kill the victim.
He noted the report on the incident including pictures had run to over four hundred pages.
Chief Truehitt said the incident had occurred in November of 2015 at closing time in the parking lot of the Spur Bar in the 900 block of South Lacy Drive, a bar that now goes by the name of Rocky’s Roadhouse.
The reports said that Spencer had gotten into an argument with two couples in the parking lot and had backed toward them, striking 49-year-old Anita Jeanette Baker and pinning her against another vehicle.
Chief Truehitt said there were indications that he might have been intending to threaten another person and that striking Baker was unintended.
Bystanders pulled Spencer from his vehicle and assaulted him before police could arrive.
