Argument leads to arson investigation in Harker Heights

Local

The Harker Heights Police Department is opening an arson investigation after a man allegedly dumped gasoline over his girlfriend’s belongings.

Police say they received a call on East Valley Road on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers and the fire department worked the scene where items in a dumpster and a small trailer were caught on fire.

The scene of the fire saw thick black smoke and huge flames near a fence, trees and a car. The fire also spread to a utility pole.

Police say the girlfriend was moving out of an apartment when she got into an argument with the suspect, who could be facing charges in the future.
