A $2.1 million addition to Heritage Park has been approved.
According to the City of Belton, the purchase will add approximately 84.25 additional acres to the existing 65 acres of Heritage Park.
The park currently hosts 1,100 youth soccer games and 800 baseball games, and only has one road for an entrance and exit.
The land purchased is to the north of the park, and used to be the Leon Valley Golf Course.
The money will be used to add another road to act as an additional entrance/exit, and will help expand the city’s sports programs.
It is unsure what the land will be specifically used for at this time. However, the City of Belton will be asking the community for feedback and suggestions this fall.
