Burglars attempt break-in while residents are home

College Station police are looking for two men who attempted to burglarize a home apparently not knowing that the residents were there.

Police got the call just before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday from a home in the 500 block of Thornton Court while the burglary was in progress.

A citizen called saying they were home and heard the front doorbell ring several times,  but did not answer it.

They then heard someone breaking in through the back and called police saying two men were breaking in at that moment.

Officers arrived and noticed two men in the back yard who immediately ran when they spotted the officers.

Police set up a perimeter and called in additional officers who searched the neighborhood for about two hours, but did not find the suspects.

The would-be burglars were described as men of unknown race, both being about six feet tall with a skinny build.

One was wearing a dark green hoodie with dark color pants and a black mask and the other was wearing grey sweat pants and a mask.

Anyone who might have seen anything in the area Wednesday morning or who might otherwise have additional information is asked to call College Station police
