“They’ve been so good to me,” says Doris Davis, surprised with her new home. “And you know, this is my first time crying. I’ve never shed a tear, you know. I’m just so overjoyed.”
81-year-old Davis is living her dream.
The Houston native has been struggling to rebuild after Hurricane Harvey swept through the city. On Monday, she was surprised with two people who know a thing or two about “fixing” up a home.
Chip and Joanna Gaines were in town to help reconstruct Davis’s home with dozens of volunteers from ExxonMobil and Rebuilding Together Houston.
Davis had been living with relatives since Harvey hit. Her home was filled with several feet of water.
The Fixer Upper stars were happy to be a part of the repairs.
“We’ll all do our part,” Chip said. “I’ve got a feeling Houston is going to bounce back and be better than ever.”
