The City of Woodway is offering their first annual Youth Public Safety Academy this week.
This has turned the Woodway Family Center into a classroom, where children ages six to twelve are learning about fire safety, water safety, bicycle safety, internet safety and first aid.
“It is best when they have hands-on opportunities to learn and to grow, and to really get in there and just have fun and to learn,” says Jamie Kent, of the Woodway Family Center.
This academy is the first of its kind in McLennan County. The organizers say their goal is to have two of them next year.
