Court battle over Gatesville explosion

An appeals court has overturned an order to have the court hold more than $6 million of insurance money paid out after the Gatesville explosion.

This explosion killed three people and injured several more at a construction site in 2018.

Judge Trent Farrell sided with Coryell County Memorial Hospital authority in February. The authority wanted the insurance money held while it went into arbitration with the contractor.

The hospital was concerned the money would be lost or used up, but the appeals court decided those fears were supported by facts and ordered Judge Farrell to rescind his order.
