An argument over whether a man would have to sleep on the floor escalated into an alleged threat with a gun and the arrest of a Hewitt woman.
Hewitt Police Chief James Devlin said they responded to a disturbance call at the Brookside Apartments about 2:00 a.m. Tuesday and on arrival spotted a woman in a pink robe running through the complex.
They stop her for questioning and then find the other half of the disturbance who was a man in her apartment.
The man told officers he had an arrangement to pay the woman $400 a month to stay in her apartment but was unhappy about sleeping on the floor.
At that point he told officers she pulled a gun and said she would shoot him if he didn’t leave.
The woman told police she did not have a weapon, but as they checked the area where they had seen her running they recovered a Glock .22 caliber handgun in the bushes.
Anastasia Jewel Stebbins was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police checked the registration of the weapon and learned that it had been reported stolen in West Memphis, Arkansas with the investigation now underway into how it came into Stebbins’ possession.
