The office of District Attorney W. Coty Siegert tells FOX44 News that Waco ISD Superintendent Marcus Nelson entered a plea deal Friday morning concerning the misdemeanor drug charge he faces.
Dr. Nelson had to pay a $500 fine and must enter a 90 day diversion program. After completing the program, the DA’s office says the charge could be dropped.
On Wednesday, March 6th, a DPS trooper arrested Dr. Nelson, saying he found less than two ounces of marijuana in the superintendent’s vehicle.
The Waco ISD School Board plans to meet Tuesday about this case and discuss Dr. Nelson’s future. We will bring you more information as it becomes available.
Seven local pastors stood behind Nelson after his arrest last week. You can view this story here.
