Freestone County and Navarro County team up to arrest the driver of a fleeing vehicle after a pursuit.

A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle Thursday night for having a defective brake light. The deputy activated the patrol vehicle’s red and blue emergency lights near FM-246 and Interstate 45.

The vehicle failed to stop and pull over, and a pursuit ensued.

The Wortham Police Department, Fairfield Police Department, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Navarro County Sheriff’s Office were on standby in the area.

After the vehicle in pursuit made numerous turns and turnarounds on the Interstate 45 Service Road, Highway 75, Spur 114, it entered the town of Streetman and went down Main Street and Ireland Street.

The pursuit ended when the fleeing vehicle lost control on FM-246, near County Road 1031. The driver of the vehicle was removed out of the passenger’s side door due to damage sustained on the driver’s side door.

The driver of the vehicle was then placed under arrest. A total of eight warrants were confirmed – seven warrants for Theft of Firearm and one warrant for Theft > $2500 < $30k, all out of Freestone County.
