A Waco family is demanding answers after police arrested a man for shooting and killing his wife.
28-year-old Quest Jones is accused of murdering 26-year-old Sherrell Carter at their home Feb. 3.
London Clark says it’s a night she will never forget. She went with Carter, her cousin, to a party that night.
“She had so much life,” Clark said. “She spoke to everybody she made sure she hugged everybody told everybody she loved them and we really we’re going to cancel that night and she was really the reason why we all end up going still.”
Later that night, police say Carter was shot and killed. Waco Police arrested her husband, Quest Jones on Tuesday.
“We were literally just with her hours ago,” Clark said. “It just didn’t seem real.”
Clark says they’ve noticed some red flags about Carter’s husband, even on that night.
“She was like, ‘I don’t want to go home.’ Like, she didn’t want to fight,” Clark said. “She just kept saying ‘I don’t really want to go home.'”
Looking back now, Clark felt like that was a warning from a loved one who always wore a smile.
“She is bubbly. I have never seen this girl frown or be mad,” Clark said. “I mean, like I said, that’s kind of why it’s hard for anybody to really know what was truly going on because she was always happy.”
The mother leaving behind a two little girls and a boy, all under the age of five. The kids were with their grandmother at the time and are now under her care. Carter’s family is still left with questions about what happened.
“Who made you god to where you can take somebody’s life? Then leave three kids, her family? Just no,” Clark said.
Carter’s family is now holding on to her memories and hoping to get justice for the one they love.
Police say Quest was known for domestic violence against Carter. He is in the McLennan County jail on a $1 million bond.
A Gofundme has been created by Carter’s family, to help with expenses for her three children.
