Former Belton ISD teacher accused of possessing child pornography

Local

A former Belton High School teacher faces a charge of possessing child pornography.

According to an arrest affidavit, a Belton police officer arrested James Alleman, III after finding child pornography on a BHS-issued laptop and a separate external hard drive and MicroSD card found in Alleman’s school desk.

According to a cached version of Belton ISD’s website, Alleman taught computer science at the high school.

The arrest affidavit says suspicions were first raised in September, when a student told school officials that pornography played on a projection screen when Alleman tried to begin class. He supposedly said to the class, “that should have never happened.”

Days later, Alleman resigned from the school and the Principal Jill Ross sent out this email to parents:

Today, we asked for a statement from Belton ISD, and received this from Todd Schiller, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources:

“The safety and well-being of students is our highest priority. Upon learning of inappropriate use of technology by former Belton High School teacher James Alleman, he was immediately removed from the classroom, and Belton Police Department was notified. In compliance with Board policy, the Superintendent reported Mr. Alleman to the State Board for Educator Certification.”

We are gathering more information and will have an update on FOX44 News @ 5:30pm.
