Former Milam County treasurer Donna Lanelle Orsag has been indicted by a Milam County Grand Jury on charges of tampering with evidence, a third degree felony.
Orsag resigned in September amid allegations of theft of public funds.
At the time of Orsag’s resignation, Sheriff David Green said his office had concrete evidence that funds were missing.
Milam County District Attorney Bill Torrey released the following statement at the time regarding the resignation of the county’s treasurer:
“Donna Orsag, Milam County Treasurer, 56, of Cameron, resigned her position on Monday, September 25, 2017, after being confronted with allegations of Theft by a Public Official by the Milam County Sheriff’s Department. Upon completion of the Sheriff’s investigation, criminal charges will be filed.”
