Waco city officials, family and friends gathered Saturday to say their last goodbye to Councilman Wilbert Austin Sr.at the funeral service. 

The service took place at the Waco Convention Center and included speeches, singing, prayers and sharing memories of the councilman. 

The councilman served the city for 11 years and is credited with developing east Waco, supporting Waco police and mowing lawns for people who were not able to. 

He died on June 19 after battling cancer.
