A pickup ran off the road and struck another truck and a gas meter in Groesbeck Monday night, triggering a gas leak and evacuation of several homes.

Groesbeck police say it happened about 10:00 p.m. Monday when a 2007 GMC 3500 pickup was northbound on Highway 14 when an officer says it appears the driver may have gone to sleep and went off the road to the right.

His truck hit a parked 2005 Chevy Silverado parked in the driveway, then hit the gas meter.

Nearby houses were evacuated and traffic in the area limited until the gas could be cut off.

There was no fire.

Police report the front porch area of the home was also damaged.

Officers say the area was cleared about 2:15 a.m. Tuesday.

The driver was not seriously injured.
