Hewitt city manager out, interim appointed

Following an executive session,  the Hewitt City Council Monday night took action terminating Adam Miles as Hewitt city manager.

In a separate action,  Hewitt Police Chief Jim Devlin was named acting city manager.

The city had been embroiled in controversy over complaints filed by city staff members against the mayor and some council members and the firing of a long time city attorney.

The item posted in the agenda was worded in such a way that it appeared that Miles’ leaving was mutually agreed with the agenda item being listed as ” Discussion and action on separation agreement between the city manager and the city of Hewitt mutually terminating the city manager’s employment contract with the city of Hewitt, authorizing the  execution thereof by the mayor, and authorizing actions by staff necessary to carry out the city’s obligation under the separation agreement.”
