“I am trusting to you the responsibilities of the Office of the President of Baylor University,” said Joel Allison, Board of Regents Chair.
Baylor faculty and students are celebrating on Thursday night, welcoming Dr. Linda Livingstone as the 15th President in Baylor’s 172-year history.
Along with two beautiful orchestras, a choir, and hundreds in attendance, distinguished guests and other members of the Baylor family installed their new and well-favored president.
“Well, welcome to one of the most important jobs in the world. We wish you every [bit of] success.”
“On behalf of the student body, we would like to thank every visitor, returning alumni, professor, and Baylor family member who decided to witness this momentous occasion we are part of today.”
“We mark the beginning of the presidency. We were inspired by your vision for Baylor’s transformational mission.”
Dr. Livingstone returns to Baylor after time on the Waco campus from 1991-2002, where
she served as associate dean of graduate programs for the Hankamer School of Business.
“And to our students, you’re the reason that we’re here today. And I can’t thank you enough for the unbelievably warm welcome that you’ve provided to me and to my family,” says Dr. Livingstone.
Now she says she’s excited for the journey ahead.
“We have the opportunity to build a transformational legacy that will impact students for generations to come, and even more so in significant ways than it has in the past generations,” Livingstone said.
