Lampasas County Sheriff Jess Ramos says one deputy is on administrative leave and he has requested an outside law enforcement agency review the use of force in making arrests that occurred early Thursday morning.

Videos of the arrest have been posted on the internet and have gone viral.

Sheriff Ramos says that about 3:15 a.m. Thursday deputies responded to assist Lampasas police with a call about a vehicle being driven erratically southbound on U.S. Highway 281.

He says Lampasas County Deputy Logan Jones stopped a vehicle driven by 18-year-old Quinton Cruce in the 200 block of Key Avenue in Lampasas.

Cruce was arrested for interference with public duties, resisting arrest, assault of a public servant and driving while intoxicated.

The sheriff’s statement said there were two passengers with Cruce, identified as 18 year old Gage Blackwell and a 17-year-old girl.

Blackwell was arrested for assault of a public servant, resisting arrest, interference with public duties and minor in consumption of alcohol.

The girl was not arrested.

Ramos’ statement says he is aware of the video being circulated on social media.

He says that Deputy Jones has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation..
