A 49-year-old Waco man is expected to spend the rest of his life in prison after being sentenced in a Waco court on two separate cases involving sexual assault of a child.
Roque Alfonso Gonzales will effectively be serving a life sentence stacked with a twenty year sentence.
The way the cases developed, Gonzales was first arrested and indicted on charges of two counts sexual assault of a child and and three counts of indecency with a child by contact in connection with an offense against a girl under the age of 17 beginning in January of 2014.
After he had been indicted in that case a second victim came forward and gave more information, leading to a separate indictment involving a girl under the age of fourteen.
That indictment included two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and three counts of indecency with a child by contact.
Those offenses go back to the year 2010.
He was actually given three life sentences and two twenty year sentences in one case, with the sentences to be served concurrently.
Then, in a rather complex sentencing scheme, in the other he was given five 20 year sentences to be served concurrently but to be stacked with his life sentence in the first case.
He had been in jail over 850 days since his first arrest before the two sentences took place until he was sentenced Monday.
