Man accused of assaulting, stealing from girlfriend

A man has been booked into the Bell County Jail after his girlfriend claimed he assaulted her and stole from her.

A Temple Police officer responded to 104 E. French Avenue on Thursday for a burglary report.

The victim said her ex-boyfriend, identified as 36-year-old Donald Marquise Whiteley, came to her residence unannounced. Whiteley was looking for clothes he previously left at her residence. 

The victim told the officer she allowed Whiteley to look around the residence, but he took her keys and purse when he left. 

The officer noticed a bruise on the victim’s her left eye and asked her about it. The victim said Whiteley assaulted her on January 31.

The officer made contact with Whiteley, and found him to have a Temple warrant. Whiteley was arrested and transported to the Bell County Sheriff’s Office. He is charged with Assault Causing Bodily Injury – Family Member in addition an Aggravated Arrest warrant. His bond is set at $2,000.
